1. What is the mission statement of LHSP?

“Lutheran High School - Parker is a Christian high school that nurtures academic excellence and encourages growth in Christ.”

2. Do you have to be a Christian to attend?

No. LHSP is open to all applicants. However, LHSP is a school that is “Christ-centered” in all we do.

3. Why are you called “Lutheran High School” - do you have to be a Lutheran to attend?

No. LHSP is a school that falls under the umbrella of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod but is open to all applicants. Being a member of a church within the Colorado Lutheran High Schoool Association does provide a tuition break. 4. How much does it cost to attend LHSP?

Tuition is $6900 annually. Tuition is $6250 annually for members of the association churches. Association churches often fund a significant portion of its members’ tuition.

5. Does LHSP offer financial aid?

Yes. LHSP offers a variety of financial aid options. Student grants are available based on need through an application process. For more information on financial aid, please contact Randy Lowe, CEO of the Colorado Lutheran High Schoool Association, at 303-934-8611 ext. 1.

6. How does your tuition compare with other parochial schools? (for 2007-2008!)

Valor Christian: $10,900 (+ $300 in fees)
Regis: $8500 (+ $1100 in fees)
Mullen: $8300 (+ $400 in fees)
Denver Christian: $8180 (+ $410 in fees)
LHSP: $6900/$6250 (+ $575 in fees)
Front Range Christian: $5515 (+ $525 in fees)
Faith Christian Academy: $5300 (+ $350 in fees)
Christian Fellowship: $4925 (+ $450 in fees)

7. What is your average ACT score?

The average ACT scores for LHSP students for the last three years has been 22.5. The Colorado state average for those three years is 20.3.

8. Where do LHSP graduates go to college?

Ninety to ninety five percent of all LHSP grads move on to some form of college. Graduates attend Colorado colleges and universities, one of the Concordia Universities (Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod) and other colleges and universities across the nation. 9. Are the teachers certified?

Yes. All of the teachers at LHSP have at least a Bachelor’s degree and are required to get a Colorado teacher’s license. In fact, many of the teachers have Master’s degrees in their field of study.

10. At what level do your athletics compete?

LHSP is a member of CHSAA and competes at the state 2A level for most sports. Presently LHSP is a member of the Northern Front Range League. Exceptions are the Black Forest League in football and the Mile High League in golf.

11. Do you have a dress code?

Yes. The dress code is “business casual” and is described in the student/parent handbook which can be downloaded from this website. Students are not required to wear uniforms.

12. What about your drama and music programs?

The drama department produces fall and spring productions. The music department offers a choir and praise team.

13. Do you offer online courses or courses for college credit?

Yes. LHSP has partnered with Orange Lutheran Online to provide both online high school and college courses. Students can receive dual credit (high school and college) for many courses taken online. Some upper level students take classes at local community colleges for dual credit.

14. Do you have a hot lunch program?

Yes. Hot lunches are provided on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from the Blackeyed Pea Restaurant.

15. Is your campus “open?” Are students allowed to come and go as they please?

No. LHSP is a closed campus. Students are required to be on campus at all times during school hours. Seniors with privileges are allowed to go off campus for lunch only.

16. How safe is the school environment?

Very safe. Our building has 32 security cameras and the only entrance during the school day is through the front doors. In Addition, the LHSP discipline and conduct code is designed to efficiently and firmly suspend and expel any student who threatens the safe environment of LHSP. We are committed to providing an educational environment that is free of the safety issues.

17. Do you offer honors or AP courses?

Yes. LHSP offers honors courses in Freshmen and Sophomore English as well as AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP US History, AP English Literature and AP English Language.

18. How accessible is the LHSP teaching staff to students and parents?

The accessibility of the faculty is one of the best things about LHSP. Students are able to meet with teachers during academic labs two days a week and also are encouraged to seek out teachers for extra help at all times. Parents are encouraged to contact teachers through phone or email. Both students and parents can use Edline to view assignments and grades online.


19. What does a typical day at LHSP look like for a student?

LHSP’s daily class schedule follows an eight-block, alternating format. Students have four blocks on alternating days. We believe this provides excellent learning opportunities and prepares students for college schedules.

20. What is “chapel?”

Chapel is the time that LHSP sets aside to honor God. Students and staff gather on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for a 20 minute devotional time. Students are often involved in leading chapels.

21. Why should I choose LHSP over other Christian high schools in the Denver Metro area?

We are the premier choice for Christian education in the Southeast Denver Metro Area for the following reasons:

a. We provide a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular offerings and activities that surpass other schools our size.

b. Our academics are top-notch reflected in our ACT scores and our percentages of college-bound students.
