Dan Gehrke, Executive Director


After graduating from Concordia University Wisconsin in 1995, Dan Gehrke served at Denver Lutheran High School as a math and theology teacher for eleven years. During those years, he was the varsity baseball coach and a C/JV basketball coach. He is now a member of the Metro League Coaches Hall of Fame. After completing his master’s degree in educational administration in 2005, he became principal at DLHS prior to the 2006-2007 school year. Dan has extensive administrative training, participating in the Association of Lutheran Secondary Schools Leadership Training and 10 Talent Visionary Leadership programs. He and his wife Kristin have three young children: Ellie, Asher, and Emma.

David Ness, Principal


David Ness grew up on a farm in Minnesota where he learned the importance of family, heritage, faith, and Christian education. He graduated from the University of Minnesota – Morris with degrees in History and Social Science Education. As a history teacher, he taught in both Minnesota and North Dakota, serving his previous ten years at Oak Grove Lutheran School in Fargo. While at Oak Grove, he completed his master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University – Moorhead. In addition to teaching and coaching, he served in various administrative roles including Assistant Principal, Academic Dean, Middle School Principal, and Director of Campus Ministries. David began serving as Principal at Lutheran High School in 2010. His family is grateful for the prayers and support of many and their Heavenly Father’s daily provisions and grace. David and his wife Sara are the proud parents of Daniel, Samuel, and Rachel.


Mark Duitsman, Athletic Director, Girls Basketball Coach

John Rinks, Director of Donor Advising

John Rinks came to LuHi in 2015 after 15 years at one of the largest Christian PS-12 school systems in southern California. He was development director there for 9 years, when the Lord inspired His people to donate $11 million for new facilities and other school needs. John also taught Economics during those 15 years, receiving a national teaching award in 2005 sponsored by the NASDAQ stock exchange, and in 2006 being selected for a team of high school economics teachers sponsored by the US State Department to observe secondary economic education in Russia. Before that John was a marketing executive in the defense/aerospace sector for 15 years at Hughes Aircraft Company, and at a Cal Tech start-up that went public and was acquired by Lucent Technologies during the late 1990s Internet frenzy. John also has a unique hobby as an amateur archaeologist, spending a month each summer excavating with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem at a Bronze Age site in Israel. He and his wife Cindy have three adult children and six grandchildren (so far).

Martin Kohlwey, Director of Campus Ministry

Hannah Buchholz, Director of Admissions & Marketing

Loren Larrabee, Director of Campus Activities

Cheryl Cattau, Enrollment Management/Assoc. Assistant

Cheryl graduated from St. John's College with an Associates Degree in Business. She started working at Lutheran High School in 1998 as the Attendance Secretary for Denver Lutheran before becoming the Development Assistant for the Association office in 2007. She and her husband, Tim, have four children who are Denver Lutheran High alumni, three are Lutheran school teachers and one is a nurse. They recently welcomed their first grandchild.


Randy Gager, Controller

Randy Gager is employed as Controller for The Lutheran High School Association. He has been with CLHSA since 2009. Prior to this current position, Randy acted as Controller for a small private company in the Lakewood area for 18 years. Randy actually started his professional career as a teacher and coach at Bethany Lutheran School in Wichita, Kansas and then Bethlehem Lutheran School in Lakewood. He has a degree in Elementary Education from St. Johns College in Winfield, Kansas. Randy originally came to Lutheran High in Denver as the Girl’s Basketball Coach and then was hired on full time shortly after. Randy is a native of Colorado growing up in the Wheat Ridge area and has spent nearly his entire life in Jefferson County. Randy is married to wife Jan and has one son, two daughters, two step-sons, 2 grand-daughters, and 1 grandson.



Robert Allison, Teacher

Have attended dozens of workshops by renowned sculptors and studied in Florence Italy. I have been fortunate to have several life size commissions completed in Colorado and South Carolina.

Karen Dyson, Secretary

Karen Dyson graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC with a BA in Business Administration.

She worked as an administrative assistant at Centura Health before coming to Lutheran High School in 2015.

After living all over the world growing up as an Air Force brat, Karen and her husband Fred have called Parker home since 1995.  They have been part of the LuHi family since 2008 and are the proud parents of Kaylee, Matt, Emily and Mary.

Jillian Lietzau, Attendance Secretary, Registrar, Theatre Director

Jillian Lietzau is an alumnus of Denver Lutheran High School and graduated from Adams State College with a B.A. in Theatre. Since 2008, she has worked as the Registrar, Attendance Secretary and RenWeb Administrator for LHS.

For the last 15 years, Jillian has worked with the theatre department at Lutheran High School where she has directed, built sets and produced fight choreography for shows. Jillian has taken theatrical stage combat classes from the Denver Center Theatre Academy. She is proficient in Rapier & Dagger, Broadsword, Unarmed, Sword & Shield, Knife, Quarterstaff, Single Sword and the sport of Foil fencing. During the summers Jillian coaches the Theatrical Swashbuckling Camps at the Denver Fencing Center and co-directs the theatre camp at Bethlehem Lutheran School. Jillian is a member of The Society of American Fight Directors.

Keith Rodefeld, Robotics Coach

Mr. Rodefeld and his son started the LuHi Robotics Team in 2008 when his son entered Lutheran as a Freshman. Although Mr. Rodefeld is not an engineer, he enjoys working with the LuHi students each year to analyze the current year's challenge and design, build, and program a robot that can effectively compete in tournaments. Outside of work and mentoring the Robotics Team, Mr. Rodefeld is involved with his church, and likes to golf, bicycle, and run.


Savanna Rogness, Teacher
