Meet the newest staff members joining the LuHi family for the upcoming school year! We are excited to welcome five new full time teachers and two part time teachers.

Michael is joining the LuHi Math Department to teach Algebra 1 and Statistics. A former teacher at Southeast, we are very excited to have Mr. Monte join us here at Lutheran. He talked a little about his love of teaching, “I love teaching mathematics because I get to help my students make sense of math and dispel the myth that math is difficult.  As a former engineer of 16 years, I am able to bring a real-world and applicable perspective to my teaching.”

Micheal graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology. From there, he earned his alternative teaching license from Colorado Christian University.

When he’s not teaching, he enjoys spending time with his family. He also shares, “I enjoy traveling and the outdoors, kayaking, playing the drums and percussion, and woodworking.”

Craig ParrottCraig Parrott

Craig is joining our LuHi Theology Department and Counseling Department. He will teach sophomore and senior theology. Craig earned his undergraduate degree from Concordia, Seward, NE where he majored in Secondary Education.

He shares a little about his love for teaching, “I love teaching God's Word because it is alive and active. It changes hearts, minds, and lives. It leads us to our only Hope, Jesus. It is for time and eternity. My greatest passion is encouraging hurting believers; Luther said, "a soul cannot be comforted unless it hears a Word from its God." I have experienced this to be true both in my life and in the lives of others.”

Craig has a long history with the LuHi community. He taught at the original Denver Lutheran Campus and then went on to teach at Faith Christian. When he’s not teaching, you can find him spending time with his wife, socializing with friends, reading Christian nonfiction, and watching movies.

Destiny Barreras0431F0E5-71A0-4961-B643-65ACFB964D3D

Destiny is the newest member of our LuHi Science Department. She’ll be teaching Chemistry and Physics. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with both a BA in Chemistry and an MA in Secondary Education. Destiny is also familiar with the LuHi community as she joins us from Shepherd of the Hills Christian School.

She shares a little about why she loves teaching, “I love teaching because it allows me to leave a legacy in His name, making a difference in one student's life in my career will make it all worth it.”

In her free time, you can probably find her venturing out to try new restaurants. “We are total foodies so we love trying new foods and restaurants.” She also loves hanging out with her husband and two daughters. She shares, “We do lots of outdoor stuff like playing sports, running, and spending time in the mountains. I’m a big Harry Potter fan! I love to drink coffee or tea while I journal.”

Dr. John Reeb1612

We are very excited to have Dr. Reeb join us to teach our Men’s Health class. “I received my teaching degree - a Bachelor of Science in Education - from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, NE (now Concordia University). I majored in Math & PE. I received my MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix, Denver campus. I received my PhD in Ministry Leadership from Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, IN.” Thank you Dr. Reeb for your willingness to lead our young men!

Dr. Reeb shared with us what he loves about teaching, “The moments I most love about teaching both high school students and adults is seeing the “light” go on. That moment when it dawns on them that they understand not only what they have learned (the knowledge), but how it applies to their and others’ lives. They finally see that their actions or words have an impact on others for good or for ill. In seeing that, the importance of their lives in helping others becomes more a part of them. When that happens, it brings me joy.”

In his free time he’s most likely playing golf, reading or being outdoors. “I love to play golf (although I’m not very good), I love to read fiction, non-fiction, history, creation related material, etc., I love to camp & hike in the mountains with my family. And, as one of my favorite posters says, ‘Sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits’.”

Dave Hiltman

Dave Hiltman joins the LuHi family from Front Range Chrisitian. Before he taught at Front Range, he taught at Jim Elliott Christian School for many years. At LuHi, he will be teaching Geometry, Pre-calculus and Algebra 2. He graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver with his degree in Communications in 1995. Teaching turned out to be his true passion though, and he has had over twenty years of classroom experience.

His love for teaching is rooted in building relationships with students, first and foremost. He shares, “I am excited to be a part of the Math Department team and have an opportunity to learn from them. I’m looking forward to learning more and fitting into the culture at LuHi.”

Dave shares, “In my free time I like to go on bike rides. I also enjoy rock climbing. My favorite sports to play are  golf, racquetball, and basketball. I also own a painting business and I love to employ my former students. It’s awesome to watch people who are skeptical about my bringing students to my work and see their attitude change towards them. I get the great opportunity to employ kids that I have seen grow and mature. It’s a blessing.”

Jenny KeithIMG_20190

LuHi is very excited to welcome back Jenny Keith. Jenny was a former teacher here at Lutheran before she moved to Texas, but we are excited to have her back in our English Department! She shares, “What do I love about teaching? The students! There is so much I can learn from them!

Jenny got her degree from Texas Tech University in 1985 where she majored in Music, then Landscape Architecture, then Range and Wildlife Management before finally settling on Education with a minor in English. Her range of interests didn’t stop there though. She shares, “Fun fact: I had a scholarship offer from the US Army for marksmanship! The thought of me ever getting through basic training still cracks me up!”

Mrs. Keith told us how she spends her weekends, “In my free time, I garden, walk, read and travel with my husband Walt.”

Jason Rogness 92895954_10101771712986410_3449904490210131968_o (1)

Jason is no stranger to LuHi! We are excited for Jason to teach both Video Production and Men’s Christian Decisions. Jason received a BS in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism from Minnesota State University Moorhead

Jason is also a pastor. After graduating from Minnesota State, he went to Lutheran Brethren Seminary in Fergus Falls, MN and received his Master of Divinity.

When asked what Jason loves about teaching he told us, “I love teaching God's Word to anyone who has ears. I especially enjoy working with high school students as it is an extremely important season of life. I am a "context" guy. Bringing scripture to life and allowing it to shape and grow me, as well as the students, is a process I strive for. I also like to listen to students' stories and invest one-on-one time with them."

In his spare time Jason pursues his hobby of collecting different sports cards. He is also a loving family man who enjoys spending evenings with his wife and 11 month old daughter, Eva.
