Now is an excellent time to schedule your ACT or SAT college entrance exam. You have September 2025-December 2026 to take your exams. Not sure which one is for you? Practice both the ACT & the SAT.

Hello Parents & Students!

Welcome to college preparation!

Now is an excellent time to schedule your ACT or SAT college entrance exam. You have September 2025-December 2026 to take your exams.

Not sure which one is for you? Practice both the ACT & the SAT, find out your scores, and then decide which test is best for you.

There are many details below so please read carefully.

Did You Know...

      1.  All colleges across the USA accept both the ACT & SAT as college entrance exams.  No need to take both!  So take the one with the highest practice score!   You can only become an expert at one test, so choose one and proceed!

      2.  Colorado colleges & universities are no longer requiring an ACT or SAT score for admissions!!   (Test Optional)    But some will want the score for financial aid, such as CU-Boulder.

3 . Some scholarship opportunities may require an ACT or SAT score. (find that info on college scholarship websites).

      4.  Many colleges across the USA have remained Test Optional after COVID but some have returned to requiring ACT/SAT;  so check college websites to find out the Admission Guidelines.

      5.  Only submit ACT or SAT score to Test Optional colleges/universities only if it is a strong score and will enhance your application.   Such as:   ACT = 30-36     SAT = 1350-1600

Consider if your scores are at or above the colleges average score range.

                   https://scholarships360.org/college-admissions/should-i-send-my-sat-scores-to-test-optional-schools/

       6.  Students create an account & register themselves to take the ACT or SAT on the Saturday of their choosing (see links below) at a local public high school

      7.  4 yr colleges may need ACT/SAT scores; 2 yr colleges (community colleges & Jr Colleges) & trade schools do not need ACT/SAT scores

      8. ACT Science Section is optional for some colleges, but required for others.  It's a moving target right now, so best to take the Science section at this time as many colleges are still making decisions.

      9.  We partner with Revolution Prep, who offers FREE ACT & SAT testing every Saturday of the month!

Take a FREE test of one or of both, then decided which exam is better for you.

Juniors should take the ACT or SAT college entrance exam during the 2nd semester of Junior year (you may only take these exams until Dec 2026).  If 2nd semester is quite busy with sports, consider taking the ACT or SAT during 1st semester. Please look at the dates in the link below, consider your schedule (vacations, sports events, etc) to choose when you can take one of the exams.  ALL colleges across the USA accept both the ACT & SAT scores for entrance. Either exam is fine; you will have to decide which exam you may score the best on or feel more comfortable with.

Register for the ACT or SAT:  To register you will go directly to the testing website, create an account, fill out the info, select your test date, select your local public high school for the testing site, and pay online.  All testing is done at your local public high school; LuHi does not host official ACT or SAT testing.  See websites below for official testing dates.

All Juniors have already practiced the PSAT two times, plus another PSAT in October 2025 on All School Test Day.

Emails are sent in December from College Board about how to get results; emails are sent to the email listed on the test answer page in the digital format.

If you do not have this info, you will have to contact College Board directly as the counselors do not have that information.

All Juniors have also practiced the ACT two time, with another practice available in January 2026.

Those results would be with Revolution Prep.  If your student did not submit the answers for scoring, then consider taking a FREE ACT or SAT exam with Revolution Prep.

NO College ever needs BOTH test scores, so take the one you are best at!!

FREE Practice ACT or SAT

Lutheran High School is partnering with our friends at Revolution Prep and Class101 to provide our students with the opportunity to practice taking college admissions exams while remaining safely at home. A full-length proctored practice exam is the best way to understand your child’s strengths and areas for improvement, so they can prepare for the actual exam.

These virtual exams give students the opportunity to work on pacing and testing endurance in a setting that best simulates the test day environment, while providing them with a baseline test score.

JUNIORS should take the first ACT/SAT during 1st or 2nd sem (I recommend 2nd semester if it fits in w/ sports schedules)

      Retake - 2nd attempt - in June

Reasoning:  finish final exams end of May, have 10-14 days to prep/study for ACT/SAT, retake in June

Retakes in July/Aug/Sept often end w/ lower scores due to "summer brain" and not being in high learning mode

Tutoring available once officially registered for ACT/SAT

ACT:  create an account w/ Kaplan for free tutoring (some have raised scores by 2-4 pts)

SAT:  create an account w/ Khan Academy for free tutoring (some have raised scores by 200 pts)
