Athletic Announcement- Flag Football- Head Coach Mason Samuels | Email from May 18, 2026

LuHi Athletics is excited to announce that Mason Samuels has been named the Head Coach of the Lutheran Girls Flag Football program for their inaugural season.

Coach Samuels is a man of God, a husband, and a father to four daughters. While his faith and family are the foundation of his life, coaching has long been his calling and ministry platform. Known as ‘Coach Mase,’ he has spent more than two decades coaching sports to inspire, challenge, mentor, strengthen and pour into young people through both competition and Christ-centered leadership.

Football has always been Coach Samuels’ primary sport and passion. He played football, basketball and baseball through high school, before getting a scholarship and playing four years of college football. Immediately after his playing days ended, he transitioned into coaching football where he spent 15 years on the sidelines. His coaching journey began with Parker Hawks and Chaparral High School before spending 12 years coaching football at Valor Christian High School.

Coach Samuels understands the unique mission of coaching and leading in a Christian school. Faith-building and character development will be central to the culture of the program. Coach Samuels shared that his family motto is: ‘Love God. Love Others. Be Unashamed.’ That motto is rooted in two verses that have shaped both his life and coaching philosophy: “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind... A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” - Matthew 22:37-39. Also, ‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16.

Coach Samuels shared the following message:

“I can’t help but see God’s hand in this opportunity. Three years ago, when girls flag football began growing rapidly in Colorado, God placed this exact program on my heart, and I truly believe He prepared me for such a time as this. Coaching has always been my main ministry. There is no greater platform to teach faith, character, toughness, accountability, and joy than sports. Every athlete God entrusts to me will be coached passionately, loved well, and protected through both my words and actions.

As a father of four girls, coaching girls’ athletics exclusively over the last 8 years has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. These young women are capable of so much, and I cannot wait to help build something special together here at Lutheran. We are going to work hard, we are going to have a ton of fun doing so, and I have extreme confidence that we will immediately compete well at the highest level. Most importantly, we are going to represent Christ boldly and unapologetically in everything we do. Go Lions!”

We are excited to welcome Coach Samuels as the leader of our new Girls Flag Football program and are confident his passion, experience, faith, and leadership will leave a lasting impact on our student-athletes and school community.
