Dear LuHi Families,
We want to provide information on a major change coming to the Colorado High School Athletics landscape. On Tuesday, September 16th, a special Legislative Council meeting took place to vote on what is being called “ADM-3”. This amendment proposed an enrollment multiplier for all private schools participating in CHSAA. Enrollment is the key variable when determining classification for all sports. Essentially, the classification of all Lutheran High School athletics will now be 1.5 times our three-year enrollment average. The specific language of the amendment can be found on CHSAA’s website.
Over the past year, Lutheran High School’s athletic department has been fighting vigorously against this. We spoke at Athletic Director Outreaches, meetings with the commissioner, monthly meetings with Private Schools ADs, League meetings, and CHSAA meetings. During the past month, we produced a letter urging member schools to vote no on this legislation, and even initiated media opportunities to discuss the amendment. Unfortunately, it passed.
At this time, we are uncertain what exactly this means for classification of our athletic programs. To date, CHSAA has not provided the enrollment cut-offs for the 2026-2028 sports cycle. Upon receipt of those numbers, we will be able to provide an update to our families with the projected
classifications of the 17 sports that Lutheran High School offers.
Have peace knowing that the administration at Lutheran High School was aware of this, fought hard against it, and has been preparing for this amendment to pass for well over a year. Lutheran High School has always prided itself on adaptability as it relates to our athletic department. We stand firm in our commitment to offer high-level athletics with Christ at the center of all that we do.
Let it be clear: no amendment, no vote, and no action by CHSAA can shake our foundation.
Lutheran High School athletics will continue to rise, compete, and glorify Christ – no matter the
classification.
Blessings,
Lutheran Athletics
