Course Selection for Athletes 26-27 | Email from Jan 16, 2026

We are excited to announce that starting in the 2026-2027 school year, our Team Strength periods will see significant change and we strongly encourage our athletes to sign up for the class. Specializing strength and conditioning programs to cater towards the athlete’s needs for their sport is clearly a priority for our families, so we have spent the first semester looking for ways to achieve this as a department.

Your student will get to take part in a brand new program that will greatly enhance the way we develop our athletes from a strength perspective. When researching what changes to make, we identified three key indicators that we believe must be a priority as we go forward.

  1. Programming

    1. Through an app, each student will receive a program specific to the sport that they participate in. We understand that every program is different, therefore the program should and will be different!

  2. Tracking and measurables.

    1. Each student enrolled in team strength, or an organized lifting period with a LuHi athletic program, will receive login information to track, record, and measure their performance over time.

  3. Injury Prevention

    1. We will be tracking injuries in conjunction with our Athletic Training Team with the goal to see a decrease in major and minor injuries as a whole. We understand that there is no way to prevent injury altogether; however, we will work to decrease athlete injury through the program.

With the multiplier passing on all private schools, strength and conditioning must be a major priority in order to level the playing field with schools with a much higher enrollment than ours. LuHi will be playing in the top division for all sports except for football (4A). Because of this, we have done our best to organize a strength and conditioning schedule for all of our sports, to the best of our ability. We understand that we can’t cater to the needs of every athlete in our school, but we have no doubt that this schedule will produce immediate results as it relates to the development of our athletes and teams.

As your student is setting their schedule for the upcoming year, we want to encourage them to sign-up for team strength as laid out below by sport. If you are a multi-sport athlete consult the Athletic Department for further instruction. Feel free to swing by the athletic offices or reach out to our ADs via email:
