Dress Code and Casual for a Cause | Summer Emails

Handbook & Dress Code – You have already received a link to the 2026-2027 Student Parent Handbook. Thank you for reviewing it as a family. It can be found under Current Family Information on our website, lhsparker.org. We especially encourage you to read the Dress & Appearance Code beginning on page 24.

The Dean Team regularly partners with students and families on dress code practices. Taking a few minutes to review these expectations now will help ensure a smooth start to the school year.

A LuHi Value – Our Student-Parent Handbook states, “Lutheran High School perceives education as a professional activity and has adopted a conservative approach to the type of clothing appropriate for school dress. Therefore, LHS minimizes the focus on fashion and moves students to a certain degree of conformity. Basically, school clothes should reflect Christian modesty, be neat and clean, and convey a school-appropriate appearance.”

As the Dean Team, we partner with families to help students come to school prepared each day. Our dress code supports a learning environment focused on Christ, relationships, and learning—not on fashion or other distractions. Parents, thank you for your willingness to begin dress code conversations even before your students leave for school each morning.

Resolving Dress Code Concerns – Our goal is for students to spend as much time as possible in the classroom learning. When a dress code concern arises, students must report to the Deans’ Office so the issue can be addressed and resolved before returning to class.

Dress-code appropriate clothing options are available for purchase in the Deans’ Office for students who need a quick solution. Once the concern has been corrected, students will return to class and continue their day.

Casual for a Cause – Beginning in September, we will introduce occasional Casual for a Cause days. These days will generally take place on Fridays unless otherwise noted. A specific start date and additional details will be communicated in advance, so students should not plan to dress down until a Casual for a Cause day has been officially announced.

Casual for a Cause days provide a fun opportunity to support good causes and ministry while still reflecting LuHi’s values and dress expectations.

Dance Dress Code – The Dress & Appearance Code includes a Lutheran High School Dance Dress Code (beginning on page 27) that applies to school dances. As we prepare for events such as Homecoming, we encourage families to review these guidelines in advance when selecting attire.

We are grateful for the great judgment our students have shown at dances and want to provide clear expectations that help everyone feel prepared and comfortable.
