Interested in LuHi Theatre? Get plugged in before school starts with these workshops!

Hey LuHi Theatre Students (and all LuHi students)!

There is still time to signup for the theatre workshops next week. If you haven't done so yet please fill out the below google form(s) no later than Tuesday (7/29) so we know how many students to expect. If you have already filled out the form please do not submit it a second time. Thanks.

SAVE THE DATES!

July 30 - Aug 1, 1pm-4pm

Acting workshops (for techies too)

  • Acting Techniques (everyday) - Students will work on various acting techniques through improv and partner work, learning how to create character movement, experimenting with character vocalizations and discover the power of character choices.
  • Introduction to our fall shows (Thursday) - Students will spend some time with our fall directors doing scene studies and acting out short scenes from our fall play lineup.
  • Monologues & auditions (Friday)- Students will learn how to perform their best audition including what to look for when picking a monologue or song and how to create the best character. They will also learn how to slate (introducing yourself and your monologue/song). Current students will be partnered with new students to mentor and help them create their best audition. ALL students should bring a short monologue from a play to work on (preferably memorized but not required).
  • Please sign up – There is not a fee for these workshops, but you do need to sign up so I know how many people to expect. It’s highly preferred (but not mandatory) that you attend all three days as there will be a lot of partner/group work and much of the work from day one may carry over to the following two days. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/9qDMBWzzwscwUzN99

Tech workshops (for actors too)

  • This year's tech focus will be on stage management and working "on deck" during a live show -  Discover best practices for working behind the scenes during a live show. How to best prepare all props and set pieces and work together to create seamless transitions. Also learn what it takes to be a successful stage manager. The one calling the shots for the tech crew and creating a smooth transition from rehearsal hall to the stage. The goal of this workshop is to introduce our students to various technical theatre jobs and enhance their techniques in the various technical theatre areas. This will give them a jump start into working tech theatre for LuHi shows.
