Schedule changes, locker assignments, school pictures, dress code, new student orientation and more start of school information
Lutheran High School Family,
Reminders & New Information - We’ve reached that point in August! Here are some previously shared items and new information.
Building Entrance For Schedule Changes (Please) - We’d be grateful if students having their schedules changed next week would enter through the doors on the west side of the building. We will have signs out to direct you. Students coming to school for school pictures or other activities may use the front entrance. Thank you!
Locker Assignments - If students would like to begin loading their lockers, early next week during picture times is a great option! Please consult Mr. Thomack’s email, LHS - Student Schedules, Locker Assignments, and Schedule Changes Information, for directions on accessing class schedules and locker assignments in FACTS.
Reminder: School Pictures - All students (new and returning) will have their pictures taken at grade-specific times on Monday, August 11; Tuesday, August 12; and Wednesday, August 13. We do this before school starts to eliminate missing valuable class time after the year begins. Please enter the front doors as the pictures will be taken on the upper level.
If at all possible, our preference is for students to have their pictures taken on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is also an option for all grade levels if Monday and Tuesday are not feasible.
These pictures are used for our yearbook, our student ID cards, and in FACTS for student records. Seniors must also take this photo for ID cards, but will submit their professional senior photo for the yearbook at a later date. Students unable to be in attendance can have their school picture taken on September 18 (School Picture Retakes).
Lifetouch, the school photography company, will be taking our pictures. Be on the lookout for ordering information from Lifetouch.
All students should be in dress code for school pictures, seniors included. :)

In-person: Stop by the Guidance Center the week of August 11-13 on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from 9:00 AM –3:00 PM. In-person changes will not be made until Monday, August 11.
Reminder: New Student Orientation & Pizza Lunch - All new students (freshmen and students transferring to LuHi) are expected to be at our New Student Orientation on Wednesday, August 13, from 9:00 AM – Noon. In addition to welcoming students to school, we have a number of presenters sharing about academics, integrity, faith, extra-curriculars, dress code, punctuality, behavior expectations, Canvas, etc. Students will receive class schedules and get tours of the building from Student Council members to help become familiar with things at Lutheran. Students should be in dress code at New Student Orientation. We’ll end our time together with Little Caesar’s pizza. Students may be picked up at noon or just after.
Important Reminder: Two First Days - We will have two first days of school this year to allow for an introduction to life on campus before the following Monday (our first full week of school). Students not scheduled will not have school on that day.
Both Thursday, August 14 and Friday, August 15 will operate with our Tuesday-Thursday schedule in the 2025-2026 Bell Schedule.
-
Thursday, August 14 (Full Day) - Freshmen & Sophomores only. Begin in Gym at 7:45 AM. (No Juniors or Seniors attend on this day.)
-
Friday, August 15 (Full Day) - Juniors & Seniors only. Begin in Gym at 7:45 AM. (No Freshmen or Sophomores attend on this day.)
Opening Convocation on Thursday & Friday – We want to begin our school year the right way! We will gather for an Opening Convocation, a time to begin the year with prayer, a devotional, and general announcements. We will begin in the Gym at 7:45 AM (the time labeled “Office Hours” on our 2025-2026 Bell Schedule).
Students will receive new copies of their class schedules (changes may have been made to balance class sections) when they arrive at school and are advised to leave enough time to get their schedules, unload their things, and be in the Gym at 7:45. We’ll leave plenty of time to get to the first class.
Backpacks in Lockers - We are again asking that all backpacks be stored in lockers during the day after students arrive at school in the morning. This is very helpful to us as students navigate the hallways between classes, as teachers walk around classrooms, and as we attend chapel, lunch, pep rallies, etc. It’s certainly okay to bring materials for more than one class at a time to skip a visit to a locker, but it’s important that we don’t have backpacks congesting aisles, rows, and hallways. Thank you!
Lunch for Sale – Beginning on Tuesday, September 2 (day after Labor Day), lunch will be available for purchase. Lutheran does not offer a hot lunch program, but does serve food from local restaurants as a fundraiser for campus organizations. Students are always encouraged to bring other lunch items or have non-perishables on hand if supplies run low (especially in the initial days of perfecting the orders). More details to follow about days and offerings.
Reminder: Questions About Dress Code - Our desire and request is that the Lutheran High School student body, with support from their families, joyfully follow the Dress and Appearance Code at Lutheran High School and honor the expectations that accompany being a member of the Lutheran High School Family. For general questions about dress code items, please contact Dean of Students, Mr. Britt Gusmus at britt.gusmus@lhsparker.org or Assistant Principal, Mr. Jonathan Schlecht at jonathan.schlecht@lhsparker.org. Thank you!
Serving Him,
David Ness
