Hello One and All!
Welcome to a brand new school year! We pray it will be one of great adventure and blessings! "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10
If you are interested in getting involved with theatre at LuHi keep reading. If your passions lie in areas outside the performing arts you my disregard this email. God's blessings on your school year!
SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday, August 13th, 12:30-1:30pm
Our ITS Board (a.k.a. Theatre Leadership Team) will be hosting our first theatre group bible study of the year.
All theatre students new and returning are invited to join us in Christian fellowship.
This is a great way to start off the school year and the theatre season! See you there!
Auditions for our two Fall Theatre productions are right around the corner. We are looking for some amazing new talent and I encourage anyone who has ever thought about trying theatre to do so now. These shows are a great opportunity to get your feet wet, so to speak, in the world of theatre and to meet some amazing people.
- Our first show of the season is "The 39 Steps" - a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud spy spoof where Hitchcock meets Monty Python! When the dashing but bored Richard Hannay stumbles into a tangled web of espionage, he finds himself tangled in a mad dash across the countryside - dodging goons, leaping from trains and unraveling a secret so big it might just save (or doom) the entire world.
- Our second show, The Theatre Showcase, is an entertaining evening comprised of five student directed One Act Plays. Comedy to Drama and everything in between will be showcased at this performance. The audience will also be treated to appetizers and dessert throughout the evening.
NOTE: Do to the nature of the tight rehearsal schedules for both productions and the sheer number of students wishing to be involved, students can either act OR do tech for these productions. Students may not do both. Sorry.
In case you missed the Fall Theatre Meeting on Monday the powerpoint with all the info is attached to this email.

Remember, everyone is auditioning for both The 39 Steps & the Theatre Showcase at the same time and casting will be based on who best fits each role/show. There is no guarantee you will be in one show over another show.
The 39 Steps Note: If you are super interested in The 39 Steps please do your research. This is a very demanding play with a very quick turnaround time before performances. This is a smaller cast (cast size may fluctuate to be a bit larger depending on how auditions go) and most actors will be playing multiple characters, like a LOT of them. It is written this way and that is the fun and challenge of this show; actors playing 6-10 characters each. Which means needing to change accents, personalities, body language sometimes instantaneously and multiple times in the same scene in front of the audience. Lot's of creativity, thinking on your feet and group collaboration is necessary with this show. It will be a great challenge for all of us and I know you are up for it, especially after crushing the shows last year! However, please come prepared. Research the roles, read articles and watch some good youtube versions. It would also be smart to look at the required accents as well (although no one is expected to have these down for auditions, but if you'd like to try go ahead).
