Meet the New Faculty for the 2026-27 School Year
4:03

We are thrilled to welcome three new educators to the LuHi family this year. Each brings a unique background, a heart for students, and a deep commitment to Christ-centered education. Get to know them below!

Isaiah Tietz: Theology & English

Isaiah Tietz joins LuHi fresh from Concordia University Chicago, where he earned a degree in Secondary English Education with a Lutheran Teaching Endorsement and a minor in theology.

What energizes Isaiah most about teaching is the intertwined intellectual and relational nature of the work. Whether unpacking a complex text or exploring Scripture, he sees every class as an opportunity to help students discover Jesus in both the Bible and culture. As a first-year teacher, his goals are to build strong classroom routines, refine the skills he developed during his student teaching right here at LuHi, and integrate faith into every part of the curriculum. He never wants to take for granted the freedom to speak openly about Christ and hold a scriptural lens up to literature and current events.

Outside the classroom, Isaiah loves hiking and has what he describes as a "borderline unhealthy" affinity for coffee and Alani energy drinks. More importantly, he wants his students to know his classroom is always a safe space for prayer, honest conversation, and support when things get hard. He also has some exciting personal news: receiving a call from Lutheran High School ranks as one of the best things to ever happen to him, second only to getting married!

Maci Di Iorio: Science

maci-m

Maci Di Iorio comes to LuHi with a degree in Health & Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine from Colorado State University, and a genuine love for the subject she'll be teaching: Biology.

For Maci, science has always pointed back to something bigger. She loves that no matter what's on the lesson plan, it can be traced to the Lord's beautiful, intricate creation. And she can't wait to help students make that connection for themselves. Her goal for the year is to inspire a love of learning by linking biology to everyday life, while continuing to grow as an educator and walking alongside students in their faith.

When she's not in science-nerd mode, Maci is a self-described kid at heart who believes learning should be fun and memorable. She's passionate about coffee, music, dogs, the Denver Broncos, traveling, and movies — so if you're looking to strike up a conversation, you've got plenty of options. She calls teaching at LuHi her dream job, and we look forward to the passion and energy she brings to the classroom.

David Ziegler: Science

David Ziegler brings a wealth of experience to LuHi's science department — and we do mean a wealth. He has been teaching since 1988, holds a Bachelor's in Physical Science with a Chemistry minor from the University of Northern Colorado, and earned his M.S. in Interdisciplinary Science (Biochemistry and Meteorology) from the same institution. Safe to say, science runs in his blood.

But what David loves most about teaching isn't the content, it's the students. He's the kind of teacher who shows up in the hallways 45 minutes before school starts just to chat and find out what students have been up to. It’s that kind of highly relational attitude that he brings to every class. His favorite moments are when a student connects a previously learned concept to something entirely new — when real learning happens, and the awe and wonder of God's creation breaks through.

David's goal at LuHi is to jump in with both feet, bring his experience to bear in physics and chemistry, and find ways to be involved in student life beyond the classroom. At the center of it all is his love for Jesus, and his conviction that when Christ is exalted in academics, athletics, and the arts, the joy we experience in those things is exponentially greater.

Welcome to the LuHi family, Isaiah, Maci, and David — we're so glad you're here!
