Meet the 2024 New LuHi Teachers
We are excited to welcome a new batch of outstanding teachers to LuHi for the 2024-2025 school year.

We're excited to start another school year off with a top-notch group of teachers joining the LuHi family. Meet the new teachers for the 2024-2025 school year!
Yesenia Berk
Teaching: Spanish II and Spanish III/AP
Yesenia is thrilled to join the Lutheran High School family and bring her passion for Spanish language and culture to the classroom. With over 20 years of teaching experience spanning from preschool to adulthood, she is dedicated to seeing her students grow academically, personally, and spiritually.
Goals for This Year:
- Inspire students to embrace and appreciate other cultures.
- Help students experience the benefits of immersion.
- Highlight the unique gifts God has given each individual.
- Encourage the use of language as a tool to reach out and share the gospel with others.
Background:
- Peru native
- Associate Degree in English as a Second Language, Peruvian-British Institute in Lima, Peru
- Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Child Development, Diego Thomson Pedagogical Institute in Lima, Peru
- Enjoys gardening, music, traveling, and continued learning.
Joseph Nsabimbona
Teaching: French
Joseph is excited to serve the Lord through the LuHi community by equipping students with the skills to express themselves in French, preparing them for future roles as missionaries, diplomats, and global citizens. His teaching style includes coaching, demonstrating the language, and facilitating activities.
Goals for This Year:
- Equip students with the ability to express themselves fluently in French.
- Encourage students to take ownership of group work.
- Prepare students for real-world situations in French-speaking environments.
- Foster a supportive and collaborative classroom environment.
Background:
- Originally from Burundi
- Lead Pastor of The Sojourners Christ’s Church (Aurora)
- Executive Director of A La Source Refugee Ministry (Aurora)
- Bachelor of Science in Economics, University of Burundi
- Master's Degree in International Relations, Ukrainian Institute of International Relations, State University of Kiev
- Passion for worship music and writing books (learn more on his website)
Tammie Blood
Teaching: American Literature
Tammi is passionate about building relationships with students and helping them develop new skills while growing closer to Jesus. She aims to foster a love for reading through a Biblical worldview and support students in finding joy in literature. She shares that, “Students should know that I want to help them succeed, and I want their best effort, as I give my best effort for them.”
Goals for This Year:
- Help students discover their favorite types of reading.
- Encourage reading with a Biblical perspective.
- Grow her teaching experience with high school students.
Background:
- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an Emphasis in Elementary Education, University of Northern Colorado
- Masters in Curriculum & Instruction: Reading & Writing, University of Colorado at Denver
- Enjoys spending free time with family, reading, watching movies, and playing Animal Crossing
Jo Schroeder
Teaching: Math
Jo is excited to journey with students through the challenges of math and help them find joy in learning. She looks forward to building a classroom environment that is engaging, respectful, and fun, with the hope of supporting students’ growing relationships with God. Her teaching style is to engage students with life application problems while fostering a polite and fun classroom environment.
Goals for This Year:
- Help students find joy in learning.
- Walk alongside students in their faith journeys.
- Show students how fun and awesome math can be.
Background:
- Bachelor of Arts in Education with minors in ASL and English, Arizona State University
- Masters in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in science and technology, UCCS
- Enjoys running, snowboarding, paddle boarding, riding horses, and backpacking with family.
Monique Keohane
Teaching: Ceramics
Monique is excited to share her love of art, design, and clay with the students at LuHi. Her greatest joy in teaching comes from seeing students amazed by their own creativity and the beautiful works they can create with clay. Her teaching style is to empower students to achieve their goals and grow their skills. She shares, "I am an artist and teacher, not an art critic."
Goals for This Year:
- Help students understand the properties of clay and its potential as an art medium.
- Encourage students to create amazing works and experience the joy of completing their projects.
- Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
Background:
- Associates degree in Interior Design
- Enjoys being outdoors in warm weather, camping, gardening, and taking long walks with my dog. She shares, "In winter, I love remodeling areas of my house, reading, and cooking for my family."
