We are excited to welcome two new members to the LuHi staff: Sara Ness and Daniel Vanderhyde. They will bring their gifts and talents to fill brand new roles: Campus Ministry Assistant and Vicar. Both bring unique skills and passions to our community, and we are excited to see their impact on our students, staff, and families.
Meet Sara Ness, Campus Ministry Assistant
Sara Ness will join us as the Campus Ministry Assistant, assisting in the areas of Campus Ministries, Service, and Missions. Sara is enthusiastic about administratively supporting these areas as we live out the Great Commission together.
Sara shared her excitement about joining the LuHi community: “I love the LuHi community and am so excited to be on staff serving colleagues, students, and families. In my role, I'm most excited to share Jesus, build positive relationships, and support my colleagues with the logistics that allow them to do what they do best!”
Sara's goals for her new role reflect her deep passion for Campus Ministries: “I have a heart for Campus Ministries at Lutheran High School and am so grateful for the Truth and Good News they enthusiastically proclaim!” She looks forward to fostering positive relationships and supporting her colleagues to help them thrive in their roles.
On a personal note, Sara has been married to David (most of us know him as Mr. Ness) for 27 years, and they have three adult children: Daniel, Samuel, and Rachel. Sara enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending school events, reading, and exploring antique stores.
Meet Daniel Vanderhyde, Pastoral Intern
Daniel Vanderhyde returns to LuHi as a Pastoral Intern (also known as a vicar), an internship while he continues his studies to become a pastor. This year, he will teach Junior Theology and assist Mr. Kohlwey and others with campus ministries. Some of you may remember Mr. Vanderhyde from his time here as a math and theology teacher. Three years ago, Daniel and his family moved to St Louis, where he attended Concordia Seminary to pursue his calling in pastoral ministry.
Daniel expressed his enthusiasm about being back at LuHi: “It's great to be back at LuHi! This place has an awesome staff and is blessed with incredible students and families. I'm really looking forward to being back in the classroom, attending chapel, and being mutually encouraged by my brothers and sisters in Christ. And eating Little Caesar's for lunch.”
Daniel aims to fully integrate into the campus ministries, understand their operations, and find ways to serve and support God's amazing work at LuHi. He prays that our families will grow in their relationship with Christ and His body, the Church.
Daniel and his wife, Jessica, have five children and are expecting another in November. They love camping, hiking, gardening, and reading together as a family. (Currently, they’re enjoying "The Lord of the Rings"). Daniel also has a passion for soccer, running, playing the piano, and reading theology.
We are blessed to have Sara Ness and Daniel Vanderhyde join the LuHi community. Their dedication to their faith and desire to serve others will enrich our school. Stop by the office to say hello and help us welcome them to our community.
